Classroom Information

Mrs. Wade

2019-2020

*** Please make sure your child is on time in the mornings. The first bell rings at 8:50 and class officially starts at 8:55 on Tuesday through Friday. On Mondays, the bell rings at 9:50 and class officially starts at 9:55. Students are expected to be at school with plenty of time to get their breakfast (if needed) and their morning routines/ procedures done before school officially starts.***

Rules and Consequences: Students are expected to show respect, be kind and courteous, and to do their best work. In our classroom we have a clip chart. Each day students start out on “good day.” They have the opportunity to move their clip up for responsible and on task behavior. If needed students will have to move their clip down as a warning. If they move their clip down they may have to have a chat with me or owe me a few minutes of their recess. If their clip is moved down again they land on “parent contact.” In the event that this happens a behavior slip will be sent home explaining what happened. Please sign this and send back the next day. I appreciate your support in keeping our classroom a safe and comfortable environment.

Book Orders: I will send Scholastic Book order forms home each month. This is a great way for you to get affordable books at your child’s grade level. Please make any checks out to Scholastic. It usually take 3-4 weeks from the time the forms are handed out until the books arrive. Book orders are optional. You can return the form to me or enter orders online using our classroom code (NH63K).

Parties: We will have 3 parties (Halloween, Christmas, and Valentine’s Day). Your child can sign up for one of these parties and will be asked to bring something to share with the class. If it is not convenient for you at the time, please let me know.

Homework: You child’s weekly homework will include the following-

Take home reading: Each day your child will be expected to check out a take home book at their reading level to read to an adult in the evening. Your child should read the book two times aloud and once or twice silently. This book will be recorded in the Reading Log and returned the next day in the Ziploc bag in which it was brought home. Instructions will be included when your child begins bringing home books.

Homework Packet:Every Friday I will send home a new homework packet. Homework is due the following Friday. If you have questions about homework, please let me know!

Transportation: Your child must bring a note if they will be going home a different way than usual. If your child does not have a note, they will be sent home the usual way. This is for the protection and safety of your child.

Phone Calls: If you have any questions or would like to speak with me during the day, you are welcome to call. Please keep in mind that the voicemail will pick up if we are in the middle of a lesson. If this happens, I will check the message as soon as I am able and will get back to you before the end of the day. Generally email is the fastest way to receive a response from me. You are welcome to email me at [email protected]

Parent Helpers: If you would like to help out in the classroom in any way, please let me know! Any help is welcome and appreciated.
